That allows me to see different ways Esperanto sentences can be formed, and different ways that concepts can be expressed. <br /> <br />Plus, it's a freeing feeling, to know that I don't have to communicate in just my native tongue! There are plenty of people around the world who have no desire to learn English, but who have learned Esperanto. (Hello!) <br /> <br />I began learning Esperanto 3 years ago. <br /> <br />I had studied - or attempted to study - 3 languages in school. I took a year of Latin, a year and a half of Hebrew (both in high school and in college), and a semester of German in college. <br /> <br />I could not hold the most rudimentary conversation about the weather, or a cup of coffee, or anything else. I felt there was some horrible block to learning a language, for me. <br /> <br />Then my husband told me about Esperanto. <br /> <br />I studied it for 3 days. Then I found an Esperanto chat room. And immediately - I found I could communicate with people all around the world!
